Healing Vaginal Pain with Physical Therapy & Tantra
An Interview with Marthe Schneider of Authentic Tantra, Inc.
I recently interviewed Marthe Schneider, Co Founder of Tibetan Tantra Inc., to discuss healing various sources of sexual pain (dyspareunia), including vaginal pain, with physical therapy and tantra. We also talk about breathwork and meditation for healing and recovering from past traumas.
Martha tells me how she begins to work with women combining the psychological with the physical.
“I always spend a good amount of time letting them talk as much as possible so that I can get a good feel of where they are coming from. I need to figure out their beliefs about themselves, and about what sex should be.”
Martha explains how a lot of women who are referred to her with vaginal pain and other intimate issues often feel as if they are somehow ‘broken’, and worry that they won’t be able to make a relationship work or start a family.
In this interview you will hear about how women with these issues can be helped and supported, can and do go on to heal and have happy relationships. And so importantly, how women with these issues are not as alone as they may feel.
Marthe Schneider is the Co-Founder of Tibetan Tantra Inc. and Co-Creator of Authentic Tantra Holistic Sex Education — including the very delicious online tantra program “Female Orgasm Intensive!” She is a graduate of the 2014 Authentic Tantra Certification Program, and has a background in dance, movement analysis and Physiotherapy. After finishing 4 years of Dance Studies she did her physiotherapy training in Norway.
Since her authorization in 2009 her main interest has been in the areas of psychological health and women’s health.
In 2011 she designed and implemented the Physiotherapy in Women’s Health course as a part of the physiotherapy education program at Ahfad University for Women in Omdurman, Sudan. In 2013 she completed her specialty training in Norwegian Psychomotor Physiotherapy, which is a form of body-oriented psychotherapy.
In her clinical work, Marthe helps people who suffer from the consequences of various types of trauma and in particular, traumas related to sexuality and genital pain conditions. She is currently part of the Ethics Panel of the Physiotherapist’s Association in Norway.
